I’d like to share a short testimony on how we MARCHED FORTH by following God’s direction, and the impact it’s had on my family.

What is God telling YOU to DO this March 4th?? Where will YOU be marching??

My March 4th Story…

17 years ago today, we left our home in CA and Marched Forth to NC! We followed God’s direction, and we stepped out in faith.

I was preggers with my son, and my daughter was 15 months. For 6 months, we lived in an apartment in Raleigh while waiting for our house in CA to sell. We had only a couple of boxes that we shipped ahead and the suitcases we brought on the plane. My husband Howard started our financial services biz from point zero, nada, nil, zilch. We had zero family nearby and we knew only a couple of acquaintances.

It was hard, really hard. We had little money, no insurance, all of our family, friends, furniture and things were in CA and other states, and I kept getting bigger with what was going to be a nearly 11-pound baby, all while chasing after a tiny creature who liked to run. Howard worked all. the. time. He worked on holidays, nights and weekends mostly, because that’s when people were available.

But…

God showed up! We met our angel, a woman who looked after my daughter when I went to the hospital to have my son, and who since has become my kids’ adopted grandmother. We found our first small group (months before we started even attending the church!) with a terrific group of people who are still prominent in our lives. Howard realized some success at what he loves best: working with numbers and dollars.

17 years later, and we are so incredibly grateful for so many connections through church and various small groups, and many friends and wonderful neighbors in our old hood and in our new. We followed God’s prompt, and our lives are rich with people we love.17 years later, and we are in such a different place. Our kids are teenagers, and one is going to college (yikes!). Howard is back in the corporate world working in Pharma and I’m working from our dream home that God gave us three years ago.

BUT, we’re also praying now to see how God is going to shake up our lives again! Because we know, when God shakes things up, it’s hard, but it’s also completely worth it!!

I wouldn’t give up the hard times in the past 17 years for anything, because of all the people who have touched my life, my kids’ lives and my husband’s life over those years. People who have picked us up, and we’ve picked them up. People who we do life with, and who love us when we’re unlovable. People who have pointed us to the Lord, and who we’ve pointed to the Lord.

People are the equation and the answer when God is present.

It’s been a wild ride so far. I can hardly wait to see what’s next!!!

Luke 9:23-27 (MSG):Then he told them what they could expect for themselves: “Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat—I am. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how. Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to finding yourself, your true self. What good would it do to get everything you want and lose you, the real you? If any of you is embarrassed with me and the way I’m leading you, know that the Son of Man will be far more embarrassed with you when he arrives in all his splendor in company with the Father and the holy angels. This isn’t, you realize, pie in the sky by and by. Some who have taken their stand right here are going to see it happen, see with their own eyes the kingdom of God.”
